Description
Description
The BMP-1AM Basurmanin is a tracked, Russian-made infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) from modern times. The length of the wagon is approx. 6.74 m, with a width of approx. 2.9 m. The drive is provided by a single 6-cylinder diesel engine with a power of up to 300 HP. The armament consists of a single 30mm 2A72 cannon and a 7.62mm PKTM machine gun. The BMP-1AM Basurmanin is, in essence, a modernization of the old BMP-1, which is to ensure its further usefulness on the battlefield. The Ural Wagon Zawod (UWZ) plant from Nizhny Tagil is responsible for this modernization. The main changes concern the installation of a new turret - known, however, from the BTR-82A vehicles. This turret, weighing about 1700 kilograms, gives the vehicle a new and much more effective weapon in the form of a modern 30mm cannon and a machine gun. At the same time, the SKO has undergone significant changes, which now allows it to operate relatively effectively also in the night mode. What is also important, the cost of upgrading the BMP-1 to the BMP-1AM Basurmanin standard is relatively low, and it undoubtedly increases the combat capability of the vehicle. It is assumed that the armed forces of the Russian Federation will be the first recipient of the vehicles, but the UWZ plants did not hide that their main goal was to produce for export markets.
